Corporate Office The Management of Difficult MomentsThe core competencies and services of the Strategic Resolutions Group may be summarized quickly: the management of “difficult moments.” Whether those moments are related to actual conflict (legal, workplace, customer) or critical transactions that must be effectively negotiated, Strategic Resolutions Group provides the added expertise, the depth of experience and the strategic skills necessary to get the job done right. As one client declared, “SRG takes care of what keeps me up at night.” In most situations, the work of Strategic Resolutions Group takes the form of one or more of the following: ASSESSMENT. Often the first step in moving through a difficult moment is an objective and informed assessment of the circumstances. Through a variety of assessment and audit techniques, Strategic Resolutions Group deliberately, but unobtrusively, assesses the challenges presented in transactions or disputes, so that strategic plans can be created to address the challenges. Understanding is the first step to resolution.
STRATEGIC PLANNING. In some cases, the most effective assistance is simply an informed partner in strategic planning, one that will help an organization move effectively to address a conflict or complete a transaction. Strategic Resolutions Group works in such a role to create a strategic response and to define the internal and external resources necessary to carry it out. In some cases, the Strategic Resolutions Group engagement is complete with such assistance, because the implementation of a strategic plan can be accomplished with an organization’s own personnel.
SYSTEMS DESIGN. In more complex circumstances, the effective response often involves more formal systems that are designed and implemented. The systems may relate to education, conflict resolution, transactional negotiation, procurement, sales, managing legal disputes or many other functions. Often a well-designed system will be the answer needed in dealing with difficult moments that currently exist and prevent those that could occur in the future.
TRAINING. In many cases, increased knowledge and enhanced skills can make a tremendous difference in the handling of difficult moments at all levels of an organization. While education and training are not a panacea, they make the core asset of any organization—its people—more valuable. With 20 training programs in negotiation and conflict resolution as well as the experience of training more than 30,000 professionals around the world, Strategic Resolutions Group can enhance the performance level of key personnel.
CRISIS MANAGEMENT. Often, conflict or transactions involve critical moments. When a crisis occurs that must be managed, those in place need to carry out their unique functions and be supplemented by other resources. The interdisciplinary crisis response capabilities of Strategic Resolutions Group join an organization’s personnel to manage the many aspects of a crisis: media, employees, external constituencies and legal resources. While such moments can be dangerous, they also are opportunities that, with sufficient assistance, can be capitalized on.
INTERVENTION. In those cases where an outside resource is needed to handle the difficult moment of a conflict or endangered transaction, highly skilled facilitators, negotiators and mediators from Strategic Resolutions Group will intervene. Experienced in acute, emotional conflict, they can manage and resolve most such cases.
CHANGE MANAGEMENT. Recognizing that change often is accompanied by conflicts, Strategic Resolutions Group has special capabilities available to assist in managing change. From behind-the-scenes consultation to overt intervention, the change management capability of Strategic Resolutions Group is focused on creating productive and supported transitions.
